A stronger blues vibe casts its darker hue over Fig. 18 due to the increased emphasis on the E7th note, which appears on beat 3 of each chord change. Performance Tip: Access the E7 notes with the pinky.
Fig. 19 takes a different tack than any of the other musical examples. The root notes are not contained in the patterns, and beat 1 of each change features the classic E3rd to 3rd blues move. Nonetheless, they provide a full harmony when played over a bass or other rhythm instrument supplying the root notes. Performance Tip: Utilize the middle and ring fingers for beat 1 of each measure.
